Jiri MLA issues clarification

Md Achab Uddin, MLA 40-Jiribam AC has issued a clarification denying any involvement of the MLA or the Bengali community in Jiribam with any terror organisations as reportedly claimed in a viral post on Facebook and other social media platforms.
According to the press note issued by the Jiribam MLA, the social media statement which was made through a WhatsApp group "Jiri Jagaran" has maligned his identity along with that of the Bengali community.
The MLA termed the statement which reportedly claimed that the MLA and Bengalis are funding Kuki-Hmar violent groups as "baseless and unfounded".
He further pointed out that he took the initiative to form a District Level Peace Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police along with leaders from all communities residing in Jiribam district when violence broke out in the State on May 3, 2023 .
Stating that the Jiribam AC was peaceful for around a year, he informed that he is making concerted efforts to contain the gun fight and other related violent incidents with the help of the District Administration.
In the light of these facts and circumstances, the MLA has appealed public to abstain from sharing such malicious and baseless statements made by unknown persons.
He reminded people that to check the authenticity of any article before sharing it further.
The MLA has also reported the social media post to SP, Jiribam for further investigation and to nab the alleged culprit, added the statement.
