Imphal, December 05 2022:
Former Vice Chancellor of University of Himachal Pradesh, Dr Kuldip Chand Agnihotri has asserted that the National Education Policy 2020 cannot be fully implemented until individuals in the teaching profession live by the ethics and principles expected of a teacher.
He made the statement during a National seminar on NEP 2020 held at UNACCO School located at Khongman today.
Speaking as the guest speaker, Dr Kuldip Chand Agnihotri appealed to teachers to take up the teaching profession with a spirit of sacrifice instead of viewing it as a means to earn money.
He stated that youths in the country are unable to make advancements in education due to following the colonial educational policy left behind by the British Raj.
As a result of this colonial education system, even though India has produced many excellent students, their contribution in the global stage is minimal, he said.
The former Vice Chancellor claimed that despite shining the light of education across the country, the education system established by the British did not contain any lessons for the advancement of the people.
This education system merely enabled the British to enslave the Indian people and make them dance to their tune, he opined.
Dr Kuldip Chand Agnihotri, who is also an Advisor to the Cultural Ministry of the Government of India further said that youths of the country will receive education under an education system suitable to the Indian climate with the implementation of NEP 2020 .
It is high time for experts and the people at large to discuss how to go about implementing NEP 2020 and how students can extract the most benefits from it, he stated.
The seminar was- also attended by N Irabahta, chairman, UNACCO School; Arup Mukhopadhyay, Director, UNACCO School and numerous founders of various private schools across the State.
