Imphal, October 01 2022:
Social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram has pointed out the importance of a stable family with strong foundational values in producing well-rounded students.
The social scientist was speaking at a one-day motivational programme jointly organised by Imphal Valley Academy and A-cad (a Kota based coaching centre) held within the premises of Imphal Valley Academy yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dhanabir Laishram stated that parents always wish for their children to be good, however, merely performing well in academics and securing a high-paying job does not constitute a good citizen, he added.
In this regard he pointed out the necessity to produce individuals with a sense of contributing to community welfare.
Dr Dhanabir Laishram then highlighted the need for students to emulate the qualities of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
He opined that the State currently needs selfless personalities like Hijam Irabot.
He added that the qualities of a good student are inculcated at home.
Coupling this with teaching different life lessons to children based on their ages would definitely lead to producing more good citizens for society, he said.
Delivering the chief guest speech, Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh alias Keba, MLA Patsoi AC claimed that 30% of the State's population is made up of students and as such, a motivational programme for the benefit of students is highly necessary.
Adding that these students will become future administrators of the State, he emphasized the need for students to focus on routine and performing their duties with sincerity.
Special invitee Sonia Sorensangbam, senior journalist, also spoke on the occasion and stated that one cannot wait for success.
If students behave responsibly in cognizance of the adage that says youths are the future of society, then success will accompany them, she added.
Notably, the motivational programme was also attended by Thangjam Bimolchandra, founder Imphal Valley Academy; IK Muivah, IAS, IGP and Laimayum Shiddhant Sharma, NEET 2020 8th State rank holder as presidium members.
