33 AR organises cultural exchange programme

The 33 Assam Rifles of Loktak Bde organized a cultural exchange program on 26 Jun 11 in INA Museum hall for the residents of Bishnupur dist with an aim to foster peace and harmony amongst the various communities of Manipur and show case the varied culture of Manipur and culture of troops hailing from various states of the country presently dply in Manipur under Loktak Bridge.
Ceremony was graced by distinguished guests and civilians of Bishnupur Dist.
The rich customs, culture, traditions and ethnic diversity with their uniqueness was showcased by troupes from various parts of Manipur who performed Meitei Khamba Thoibi, Naga dance, Kuki dance and Meitei pangal events.
The security forces also showcased their traditional events including Lezim (Martial dance form of Maharashtra), Bhangra (Traditional Punjabi dance), Khukri dance (Gorkhali dance) and a splendid band display.
A Total of 103 participants including 52 participants from Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Tamenglong district participated in the event and an approx strength of 350 people from Bishnupur and surrounding areas witnessed the programme with interest and great enthusiasm.
Colonel N Bhardwaj, Commandant 33 Assam Rifles welcomed all the participants and public and assured that such events with an aim to strengthen the relationships and foster unity among all ethnic groups of the area will be organized in future also.
Colonel N Bhardwaj Commandant, 33 Assam Rifles encouraged the participants by distributing prizes and appreciating participants for their splendid performances.
He congratulated all local artists and Security Forces participants for their efforts to bring peace and harmony in Bisnupur through their programmes.
He gave away the prizes to the participants and thanked the people of Moirang who made the event a success by turning up for the event in a large number.
