Imphal, October 22 2016:
The Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) said the speech delivered by Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang at the 1st Manipur Naga Village Authorities Conference that was held at Tagaramphung Yaikanpao village on October 19, sowed seeds of disunity among Manipur Nagas and communal crisis in Manipur.
The MNPF in a statement issued by its assistant publicity secretary Thomas Numai said Zeliang did not mean any good for the Manipur Nagas.
His speech at the conference only sowed seeds of disunity and communal crisis.
Politics of NPF and NSCN (IM) cannot break Manipur and the Manipur Naga, the MNPF said.
Manipur has a history of communal harmony.
All those attempting to separate the hills and the valley are truly against God, the MNPF said in the statement.
The NSCN (IM) sparked the Kuki-Naga communal riot in 1992-1995.The wounds from the tragedy have not healed.
TR Zeliang should refrain from making statements that could flare up a communal tension in the State, the MNPF said.
Forcing the Manipur Naga Village Authorities to sign a resolution to support NPF in the forthcoming Assembly elections after the conference and declaring the same resolution is unethical and unacceptable.
There was unity among the Nagas in Manipur before the NSCN (IM) entered into Indian politics.
MNPF strongly condemn the resolution and is ready to confront the same in the interest of the Naga people.
The Nagas in Manipur is disgusted even by the name of NPF.
As such the motive of the UNC when appealing to the Naga people to support NPF in the forthcoming Assembly election is questionable, the MNPF statement said.
