YSU opposes appointment

Imphal, May 04 2016: Young Sporting Union (YSU) has cried foul over the appointment of Samurou Nagar Panchayat chairperson's wife Khuraijam Umeshwori as the approved teacher of Haoreibi Makha Leikai Lower Primary School.

Till February 2014, the school had three teachers � two Government approved and one unapproved.

After the retirement of the two approved teachers, the unapproved teacher � M Chanu Shantibala appeared before a DPC on February 21, 2015, YSU secretary Ningombam Somendro said in a press meet today.

On September 5, 2015 Education Minister M Okendro Singh, during a Teacher's Day celebration gave out appointment orders to a list of Government approved teachers for aided schools among which M Chanu Shantibala was one.

However, Somendro lamented, before the list of approved teachers were out an Adhoc Committee comprising of Wangoi ZEO Yangshorang Koireng, DDO incharge Nabakishore and AI Ibomcha acting on a DO letter by Langthabal Constituency MLA appointed Khuraijam Umeshowri to the post left vacant by retired approved teacher Y Temba Singh.

The committee not only appointed Umeshwori, they conducted a DPC to upgrade Umeshwori to an approved teacher, thereby misleading the Director of Education.

The local club, meira paibi lup nor the appointed teacher M Shantibala were informed of the DPC sitting, he stated.

YSU has urged the State Government to take strict actions against those involved in tarnishing the education system.

The union has also sought clarification from Langthabal a/c MLA and Samurou Nagar Panchayat Chairperson regarding the matter.

The union said it will impose social boycott on both the MLA and Panchayat Chairperson if do not clarify.

YSU will permanently close down Wangoi ZEO if the State Government fails to award suitable punishment to the ZEO, DDO incharge and AI involved in the matter before May 10, Somendro added.

The press meet was also attended by Haoreibi Makha Leikai Nupi Yaipha Lup secretary Nongthombam Binodini.
