Imphal, August 29:
86th battalion of CRPF in collaboration with RIMS Blood Bank organised a blood donation camp at its headquarters at Lamphel yesterday.
Forty six jawans including Commandant of the battalion, Shankar Lal Sengupta and other officers donated their blood as a goodwill gesture.
Additional DIGP of CRPF, SK Malik inaugurated the camp with the lighting of ceremonial lamp and cutting of ribbon.
Speaking on the occasion, SK Malik stressed on the efforts made by CRPF and other security forces to maintain peace and tranquillity in the State.
Maintaining that CRPF is one of the most adaptable forces, Malik conveyed that CRPF was instituted to maintain internal security of the country.
He also emphasised on the importance of blood by human beings at the time of emergency.
Saying that blood has got no religion, caste and creed, Malik expressed hope that the blood donated by his jawans would go for a noble cause in this trouble torn State.
SK Sengupta said that the battalion is in the State to promote brotherhood.
The Commandant further said that the battalion had organised such camps during their deployment in Tripura as well and added that it would continue in future to improve policepublic relationship.
The camp was sponsored by the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC).
