Endocrinology and Neurology wards inaugurated at RIMS

Imphal, October 28 2026: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal today inaugurated its Endocrinology and Neurology wards at the site of the former Postnatal Ward in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, RIMS Hospital.

Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, formally inaugurated the two wards in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; Prof S Ranabir, Head of Endocrinology Department; and Dr A Thoibisana of Neurology Department.

The inauguration marked a significant step towards strengthening specialised healthcare services at the hospital.

The new wards will provide dedicated care to patients suffering from endocrine disorders and neurological conditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted the institute's commitment to strengthening super-speciality healthcare and expanding DM and MCh courses.

He stressed the need to recruit Neurology specialists and announced plans to expand Cardiology and Nephrology services.

He appreciated the contributions of the Medical Superintendent, engineering team, faculty and staff and urged all to remain dedicated to serving the people of Manipur and beyond.

The programme was attended by the Dean (Academics), Principal of Dental College, HoDs, faculty members, doctors, nursing officials, staff and students of RIMS .
