ESRSPF celebrates 32nd Foundation Day

The 32nd Foundation Day of the Environmental Social Reformation & Sangai Protection Forum (ESRSPF) was held yesterday at Khordak Village, Bishnupur district.
The event was attended by M Asnikumar Singh, Chairman of the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) as the chief guest along with various key officials, conservationists, and community leaders, including Loijam Joykumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), Tourangbam Brajakumar Singh, Director, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Manipur, Dr Kh Shamungou Singh, Chairman, Technical Committee, State Wetland Authority, Manipur, T Budhi Singh, former President, ESRSPF, and Oinam Maipakchao Singh, President, United Clubs of Thanga as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, M Asnikumar Singh reflected on his past association with ESRSPF and commended the organisation for its 32 years of tireless efforts in advocating for the conservation of the endangered Sangai deer and Loktak Lake.
He further emphasized the urgent need for collective action to restore the ecological balance of Keibul Lamjao National Park and Loktak Lake, ensuring a safe and thriving habitat for the Sangai.
As part of the programme, M Asnikumar Singh also distributed Fisherman Cards to the fishers of Nongmaikhong village, reinforcing the LDA's and State Government's commitment to supporting local fishing communities and promoting sustainable fishing practices in Loktak Lake.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge from all stakeholders to strengthen conservation efforts, enhance community engagement, and implement sustainable solutions for the long-term protection of Loktak Lake and the Sangai deer.
