Birth centenary celebration of RK Kamaljit to be hosted

Imphal, October 15 2024: The Directorate of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Tripura is set to celebrate the birth centenary celebration of Rajkumar Kamaljit Singh on October 20 at the DIPR auditorium at 1 pm.

It may be noted that Kamaljit was an MLA of the Tripura Legislative Council.

He was at the forefront in the effort to establish the Manipur Sahitya Parishad in Tripura and was the first secretary of the Parishad.

He was the associate editor of Manipuri magazine "Khonjel" and also served as the founder editor of weekly journal "Marup" .

He also authored many books.

As per a press release issued by Sahitya Thoupang Lup, a book on RK Kamaljit will also be released on the occasion.

The celebration will begin with a lamp lighting ceremony and will proceed with the offering of floral tribute on the portrait of RK Kamaljit Singh.

A team of seven individuals from Tripura will be attending the event, including, Langoljam Birmangal Singh, president, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Tripura.

A poetry reading session will also be held with the participation of 30 poets from Tripura and Manipur.
