Aheibam Biren condoled

Living Arts Academy Manipuri Thang-Ta (LAAMAN Thang-Ta) and Human Rights Alert (HRA) have extended their heartfelt condolence at the passing of Aheibam Biren, fondly known as Biren Lamba on May 10 due to an illness.
According to a statement issued by Ch Sunilkumar, secretary, LAAMAN Thang-Ta, Aheibam Biren served as the general secretary of Hula Sindam Sang (1985-1990), Keishamthong Laishom Leirak and also as advisor of LAAMAN Thang-Ta.
In addition, teacher at LAAMAN and North American Thang-Ta Association, Khilton Nongmaithem joined the students and members of LAAMAN Thang-Ta via video conference in observing two minutes of silence and offering prayer for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by Babloo Loitongbam Executive Director, HRA said that the organisation will forever remain indebted to Biren Lamba for his pioneering work of rendering Chainarol Puya into English language.
It is through his painstaking work that HRA has been able to proudly present the depth of the Meitei civilizational values to the world of contemporary International Humanitarian Law, said HRA.
Both HRA and LAAMAN Thang-Ta have shared in the grief of the bereaved family.
