Social worker Daphya Ripao Kyapaomai passes away; Senapati CSOs hold condolence service

Senapati, August 10 2025:
Social worker Daphya Ripao Kyapaomai, renowned for his generosity and selfless service to the Poumai Naga community, passed away at Babina Hospital, Imphal, on the night of August 9 .
He was 44 .
In remembrance of the later leader, district-based civil society organisations held a condolence service at the Traffic Point Junction, Senapati.
Born in 1894 at Puba Thapham village in Senapati district.
Daphya was the son of Kyapaomai Siile Daphya and Babe.
The death of his father in 2018 deeply affected him, inspiring him to dedicate his life to serving his community.
An alumnus of DAV Public School, Imphal and Manipur Boarding School, Chingmeirong, he was active in music, sports, and local progressive groups during his youth.
After his graduation, Daphya chose social work as his calling, becoming an executive member of the Development Agency for Social Justice & Rural Empowerment, a registered NGO.
He championed various development programmes for Scheduled Tribe students and often participated in humanitarian service.
MLA of 47-Karong AC, Kumo Sha, who accompanied the mortal remains from Imphal, said that Daphya had gone to a better place, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and steadfast support for others: The Senapati District Welfare Association (SDWA) described him as a noble leader whose memory would be treasured by all.
The Poumai Naga Union (PNU) remembered Daphya as a man with an open heart - always ready to help, listen, and give without expecting anything in return.
His generosity, encouragement, and willingness to share his time and resources touched countless lives and strengthened community bonds, stated PNU.
Condolences were also conveyed by the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), Poumai Naotumai Me (PNM), and other well wishers during the condolence service.
The mortal remains were later taken to his native village for the funeral ceremony.
