Student Council of Shija Academy of Health Sciences extends aid to relief camp

Bishnupur, July 08 2024: The Student Council of Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Langol visited the Leimaram Girls' Hostel relief camp and donated essential and relief materials today.

The visit was initiated and supported by the Medical College Authority specially the Director, Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS) in a bid to extend aid to the displaced victims who have been adversely affected by the ongoing conflict, said a press release by the president of the Student Council SAHS.

The donated items were procured from the fund rising event organized by the Student Council SAHS during November, 2023 .

During the visit at the relief camp, the students interacted with the displaced people wherein they narrated their ordeal how they end up in the relief camps.

The displaced people also spoke about their ongoing struggle to sustain themselves and other important aspects such as education of their children, general health, medical emergencies and their psychological health.

Deeply touched by their heart wrenching stories, the student council appealed to all to extend best possible help to these displaced people to alleviate their sufferings.

The student council also prayed that the ongoing conflict is resolved and pave way for restoration of peace and harmony in the crisis stricken Manipur, added the release.

It is worth noting that ever since the outbreak of the ethnic conflict in May 3 last year, thousands of innocent civilians have been rendered homeless and are taking shelter in various relief camps across the State.

The conflict has led to the loss of hundreds of precious lives and many more unsolved missing cases.

Above all, many have incurred extensive damage of properties.
