Tree plantation programme held

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Imphal, successfully organised a Tree Plantation Programme under the Swachhta Action Plan 2024-25 at the Ladies Hostel No 3 Complex, RIMS, Imphal today.
According to a release issued by RIMS, the programme aimed to promote environmental sustainability and reinforce the importance of maintaining a clean and green campus.
The event was graced by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, along with senior officials from Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar emphasized the vital role of tree plantation in enhancing air quality, biodiversity, and overall environmental health.
He also appreciated the collaborative efforts between RIMS and IOCL in fostering eco-friendly initiatives.
Saplings of various plant species were planted throughout the hostel complex, contributing to the beautification and ecological well-being of the institution.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hostel residents, students, and faculty members, who actively engaged in planting and nurturing the saplings.
Kuntal Mukherjee, GM (RS), IndianOil AOD; Prasanta Tarafdar, CM (RS), IndianOil AOD; and Rajkumar Mohen, DRSH, Imphal Divisional Office also planted tree saplings during the event.
Their active involvement underscored IOCL's commitment to environmental sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) .
The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to maintain and nurture the planted trees, ensuring their long-term survival and impact.
