Imphal, July 06 2009: MLA Ng Bijoy has distributed water pump sets among the farmers of his home Assembly Constituency of Khurai who are reeling under the impact of drought.

The water pump sets were handed over to the farmers during a simple function at the Khurai Chingangbam Leikai residence of the MLA today.

One water pump set each were provided for the farmers of Phaknung, Kangla Siphai and Moirangkampu.

It is said that water from Iril river can be utilised for the irrigation purposes of the paddy fields in these three villages.

Speaking at the occasion, MLA Ng Bijoy expressed hope that with presentation of these water pumps sets the difficulties of the farmers in irrigating their paddy fields would be resolved to some extent.

On top of this, one RLI scheme being constructed at Kangla Sangomsang is almost completed, the MLA informed.
