Imphal, October 30 2009:
According to the finding of the Ministry of Peace and Development-North East India (MPD-NEI), 40 percent of high school students in Imphal are studying in various schools with great difficulty and their guardians have very little means to support their wards.
Given the situation, the MPD-NEI, an NGO working for the tranquility and welfare of the region, has said that every organisation and individual should strive to resolve the current social impasse so that the poorest section of the students' community is not affected.
While fervently appealing the Govt of Manipur and the agitating students and social organisations to reconsider their respective stand and start taking up humanistic approach so that things are compromised in the interest of the poor students community.
The MPD-NEI said that the rich can make up the loss by arranging private coaching classes for their children but it's the under-privilege section of the society who are suffering tremendous loss.
The MPDNEI earnestly appealed the concerned parties, the Govt and the agitating groups to come to a platform of compromise and create a situation where students are not brought into the mess.
The MPD-NEI cautioned that prolonging impasse will very soon complicate things among the people of the state.
"To avoid such a farce, the Govt should take a bold initiative while the agitating parties should also consider their stiff stand," said the MPD-NEI.
