Drugs seized at Kangpokpi

Imphal, September 26 2012:
A team of Custom Division, Imphal has seized contraband drugs and pangolin scales worth Rs 10.27 lakh today.
Addressing reporters this evening, Superintendent (Anti-smuggling) of Custom Division, Imphal, L Simte said contraband drugs were seized by a team of the Custom Division from a truck (MN-01/7244) which loaded the banned drugs from Kangpokpi today.
27,1000 tablets of Actidin; 37,490 tablets of Amlesun and 14 kgs of pangolin scales were found concealed in carton boxes from the truck that was carrying consumer items, Simte said.
All the seized items are estimated to be worth over Rs 10 lakhs, if the drugs are sold at its printed price, L Simte said.
The contraband items were said to be imported from Dimapur.
The identity of the owner of the banned items were not yet established.
The driver of the drug is identified as Amir Khan (25) of Lilong Tairen Makhong while the helper is Md Amhad Khan of Thoubal Moijing Litan Makhong.
A case has been registered on the matter, he added.
