5th in the series of Hueiyen Rendezvous

The 5th in the series of Hueiyen Rendezvous was organized by Hueiyen Lanpao Columnists' Forum (HLCF) alongwith a scintillating literary event at the Literary Hall of Hueiyen Lanpao, Sega Road Thouda Bhavok Leikai here today.
The logo of Hueiyen Lanpao, depicting a white pigeon in flight signifying the newspaper's motto "Messenger of the Masses", was also released during the occasion.
The new logo would be used from the coming New Year's Day i.e.January 1, 2014. The logo has been designed by Saikhom Robi Prakash.
The literary event was moderated by Sahitya Akademi Awardee Birendra Naorem.
Speaking on the occasion, Birendra said that a society is made up of different elements and literature is one such element.
The initiative of Hueiyen Lanpao and its columnists' forum to promote literature in the State is quite commendable.
The Sahitya Akademi Awardee further said that a litterateur's worth cannot be judged simply by the number of awards he or she received.
People's appreciation of their works is equally important to the writers.
Columnist and artiste Narendra Ningomba said that rare art forms of the State such as Pena Phamsak and Khongjom Parba should be included in the school curriculum to impart knowledge of such art forms to the students.
Besides, Birendra, many literary enthusiasts presented their own Manipuri and English poems and Manipuri short-stories during the literary event.
They included Khwairakpam Sunder, Netrajit Thoudam, Lenin Khumancha, Tongbram Amarjit, Kshetri Rajen, OC Meira, Doneshwar Konsam, Jhantibala Akhom, RK Sanahanbi, Irom Mobi, Surjamani Yumnam, Dr Dhanabir Laishram, Pangabam Nandakumar, K Kananjoy, Nyaydhar Potsangbam, Nabakumar Nongmeikapam, Randhirkumar Yendrembam, Maya Nepram and Renubala Huidrom.
