Cease work strike begins

Appealing the State Government for a permanent solution to their demands, teachers of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) today launched a fresh cease work strike by staging a sit-in protest in front of ZEO, Zone-Ill Thoubal Office.
Speaking to media persons, Kh Himat of Joint SSA and RMSA Teachers'Association Manipur said that the democratic protest was launched as the State Government has failed to fulfil their demands.
Nearly 3500 teachers, who were recruited as regular employees, have not enjoyed regular salary till date, he said, adding that a memorandum will be submitted to the Director concerned in this regard.
He also said that teachers of SSA and RMSA are not given advance payment for major festivals of the State.
Claiming that salary for 5-6 months of SSA and RMSA teachers are still not released, he added that more intense agitation will be launched if the Government fails to find an amicable solution to their demands at the earliest.
