Man stabbed to death, house of accused burnt

Thoubal, December 06 2015:
A 32-year-old man stabbed a man to death and injured another at Kakmayai village under Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district at around 11.30 am today.
The deceased has been identified as Mutum Amumacha (32) s/o (L) Modhu while the injured man is one Sairom Poireiton (32) s/o (L) Rabi of Kakmayai Maning Leikai.
The two were attacked by Shamulailatpam Shyamkesho Sharma (32) s/o Nando of Kakmayai Mayai Leikai.
Enraged people later torched the house of the accused.
According to information culled from the spot, Amumacha and Poireiton were immediately rushed to CHC Yairipok after the incident.
However, doctors declared Amumacha dead on arrival at the health centre.

He bore a deep injury mark on his right abdomen.
Poireiton who received a minor injury on his chest has been discharged after first aid.
Locals saw Shyamkesho, Poireiton and Amumacha standing together near a community pond of Kakmayai village before the incident happened.
They said that the trio did not have any past dispute or fight.
However, Shyamkesho is said to be suffering from a mental illness.
Amumacha's wife Tama is undergoing treatment at CHC Yairipok as she fainted after hearing the news of the incident.
Amumacha is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
When a team of Nongpok Sekmai police station rushed to Shyamkesho's house to arrest him, he was found taking meal there is if he had not committed any crime.
However, he resisted the police by brandishing a knife when they tried to arrest him.
After the police overpowered Shyamkesho and took him to their custody, irate locals burnt down his house.
It is said that police recovered four knives from Shyamkesho.
The house was found already reduced to ashes when the fire tenders from Yairipok fire sub-station reached the spot.
Later, additional police force from Thoubal led by Yairipok police station SDPO S Hemanta rushed to the locality to prevent occurrence of untoward incidents.
Later in the evening, locals constituted a JAC in a public meeting held at the ground of Eastern Youth Union.
The meeting decided to press the Government to provide.
