Collective efforts called to tackle illicit substance menace in State

Tongbram Robindro, MLA of Thanga Assembly Constituency has highlighted the role of parents in leading their children and youths towards the right path to protect them from the menace of drugs and other intoxicants.
He made the above statement while speaking at the one day public discussion programme on 'Impact of substance abuse on society and the role of public to tackle the issue' held at Keirenphabi Mayai Leikai Mandop in Bishnupur district today.
A press release by Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) informed that the programme was organised as a part of CADA's continued efforts to fight against rampant use of illicit substances in the State.
T Robindro further maintained that the youths are on the path of downfall since the trend of using drugs and alcohol are on a rise.

Such a disturbing trend will eventually degrade the society thereby leading the State in a sorry state, he added.
Today's programme was jointly organised by Chanura Leishem Lup, Keirenphabi; CADA Keirenphabi Unit and CADA Bishnupur District Committee.
Functional president of CADA Bishnupur District Committee, Huningsungbam Ongbi Basanti; Ward member, Tongbram Samu; senior citizen, Tongbram Shyamkeshwor and vice-president CADA, Ningthoujam Doren attended the occasion as the presidium members while Dipanjit Ningthoujam, vice-president CADA attended as the resource person.
Addressing the gathering, Ningthoujam Doren stated that youths in the State are prone to alcohol and drug menace and it is increasing at an alarming rate.
Expressing concern over the matter, he called for collective efforts to curb the issue at the earliest in order to save precious lives and the society from the grip of illicit substances.Tongbram Shyamkeshwor stated that the issue of illicit substance menace can be tackled only when everyone contributes equally and strives earnestly for the development of the society.
