Imphal, March 28 2022:
A number of healthcare workers who were engaged during the Covid pandemic on a daily wage basis staged a sit-in protest at Lamboikhongnangkhong Covid Care Centre for terminating their services, today.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the demonstration, a representative of All Manipur Covid Warrior Association Sougaijam Pellika stated that terminating their services as soon as the Covid situations improve to some extent is disheartening as they too played a key role during the difficult period of the pandemic.
Asking the Government to revoke the termination order and assign them to a proper place, he claimed that the Government had assured of regularising them after 100 days of service at the time of hiring.
Claiming that they continued their service without getting payment for about six months, Pellika continued that the Government disregarding their contribution is unfortunate.
He then urged the Government to not hire new staff but utilise them first.
