Imphal, February 25 2022: The Youth Collective Manipur (YCM) has published a comparative analysis of people's manifesto they drew up pertaining to the 12th Assembly election and the manifestos of four political parties.

The report was published during a function held at Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai, today.

Speaking to media persons, coordinator of YCM people's election manifesto Thongam Zingo stated that the people's manifesto having 27 points was released on November 17 last year after consulting with different civil society organisations.

Saying that the manifesto was also submitted to major political parties to incorporate the points in their respective manifestos, Zingo continued that only Indian National Congress (INC) and National People's Party (NPP) had reached out to YCM and discussed the points.

Zingo maintained that the YCM picked up five key issues namely political and human rights, drug trafficking, food and agriculture, environment and youth and women.

Stating that the manifesto of NPP didn't mention anything about drug trafficking but scored the maximum marks in the four other points while the INC stood second, he added that JD (U) and BJP got eight points each.

The manifesto of BJP on the other hand didn't mention anything about environment and political and human rights, he added.

Zingo went on to state that the YCM will soon publish a report about the pre-poll violence which took place in Manipur and formulate another report after the election.

Executive director of Human Rights Alert (HRA) Babloo Loitongbam, LOUSAL president Mutum Churamani, environment activist Ram Wangkheirakpam and convenor of Women in Governance Narengbam Nonibala also attended the programme.
