Imphal, October 23 2026:
The Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur has urged the Government to immediately review and revoke the reinstatement order of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Anurag Bajpai as Additional Chief Secretary of Tribal Affairs and Hills.
Revoking the reinstatement order of the PCCF, the Government should appoint a senior tribal IAS officer to the post of the ACS, TAH who understands the people, said the federation in a representation submitted to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today.
Questioning the rationale behind the reinstatement of the PCCF as the ACS of the Tribal Affairs and Hills, the federation alleged that an officer from the Indian Forest Service, with a completely different domain of expertise, cannot do justice to this sensitive post (ACS, TAH) .
The post of ACS, Tribal Affairs and Hills demands a deep, lived understanding of tribal needs, culture, challenges and customary laws.
This post must be held by a tribal IAS officer who understands the people.
In the larger interest of more than 40% tribal population of Manipur, the Government should immediately review and revoke the reinstatement order of the PCCF as ACS, Tribal Affairs and Hills.
Further, the Government should disclose the reasons and file notings for this "repeated reinstatement", and appoint a senior tribal IAS officer to the post of ACS, TAH in the spirit of Article 338A and for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes, added the federation.
