Imphal, September 12, 2009: The proscribed Revolutionary Peoples' Front (RPF) has owned up to carrying out the ambush on the IRB personnel, killing four them and injuring another six by its army wing PLA, however said that it was not intentionally targeted at the IRB but the PLA cadres launched the attack thinking that the IRB vehicles belonged to the Central security forces.

A statement of the outfit, signed by GM Changjou e-mailed to the press, blamed the state security forces for being careless and wearing uniform (camouflage) and moving in bullet-proof vehicles which make them resemble as those of the Central Security Forces.

Manipur has now become a big battle field for independent.

Do not wear uniforms resemblance to the Indian Security Forces.

When wearing the uniform at least to know that they are state security force and plates to indicate, the force they belong to.

Don't enter to the area dominated by the PLA violating the warning.

This will amount to cause unnecessary and untoward casualties.

Don't go with the Central forces in the name of joint operation to avoid unnecessary casualties, RPF informed the state security forces in the statement.

RPF, in the statement put down that ambush being carried out by its armed wing Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) but clarified that they laid the ambush assuming that the IRB convoy as Central security forces as the vehicle was very similar with the vehicles used by the Central security forces.

The camouflage uniform which IRB personnel wear was also not different from those used by the Central forces, it added.

The PLA cadres took position to laid ambush based on the information that Central Security Force are coming to the area.

At about 10.30 am, a convoy of security forces with uniform similar to "IOF" in a bullet proof and a while Maruti Gypsy vehicle proceeded on the road where PLAs are taking position.

The convoy was attacked without interruption by the PLA cadres but, later it came to know that the convoy was not Central force but personnel of the sixth IRB coming from Maphou Dam which resulted to the ceasing of firing immediately.

But in the ambush four IRB personnel killed and injured to six other.

Four weapons also collected from them.

If they had not stopped firing immediately after they realized their mistake, the casualty would have been much higher than what it was, it further put down while expressing sorrow at the unfortunate incident and sharing the grief of the families of those dead and injured.

Majority of the personnel of the Manipur police commandos and IRB personnel are Manipuri of same blood.

There disciplines and moral are not upto the expected level.They lack talent.

Apart from this, they join the force only for the meager salaries and for livelihood except some police commandos who are looting people and killing people.

RPF did not review its stand not to attack or killed state security personnel but mistakenly or when they intruded to the area where PLA cadres are there, the statement went to state.

The statement further reacting to Major General AK Choudury (IGAR-S) statement broadcasted on the AIR, Imphal on September 4 last was a statement trying to mislead the people of the state.

AIR, Imphal News Editor Nando who makes up the statement in consultation with the major general needs to re-look into the matter.

In the statement, it was not mention on the violation of human rights by the security force against the innocent people of the state for the last many years.

This showed that the statement was a conspiracy one.

It is kind of political warfare against the outfits fighting for independence.
