Sampoornata Abhiyan of NITI Aayog launched at Chakpikarong

The Sampoornata Abhiyan of NITI Aayog under Aspirational Blocks Programme for Chakpikarong Block under Chandel district was launched on July 9 .
The launching programme was held at Chakpikarong Baptist Church Community Hall yesterday organised by the District Administration Chandel, under the initiative of NITI Aayog, Government of India.
Chakpikarong block representing Chandel District in the State is one among the 500 blocks selected from across the country to compete in the Aspirational Blocks Programme.
The Aspirational Blocks Programme under Sampoomata Abhiyan is an initiative of the Government of India to improve the performance and economic development of the under-developed blocks.
Launching the campaign, Md Tajudin, Sub-Divisional Officer/Block Development Officer (SDO/BDO) of Chakpikarong Block led the Abhiyan Pledge and called for concerted efforts from all major line departments to work in convergence mode and strive for transformation and upliftment in the underperforming blocks.
He further informed that the three month-long Sampoomata Abhiyan campaign from July 4 to September 30, 2024 will target to accelerate development in under-developed areas of the block.
He reiterated the need for individual support and coordination for the effective implementation of the programme.
Dearson Tontang, Senior Consultant, Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) Chandel in his welcome address highlighted the objective of the programme wherein he emphasized that the programme is aimed to bridge developmental gaps by achieving 100 percent saturation in six indicators of the aspirational block programme.
The six indicators that need to be improved are Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Skill Development and Financial Inclusion, said Dearson Tontang.
As a part of the launching event, Soil Health Cards were distributed to farmers and screening of diabetes and hypertension were conducted by NCD Cell, District Health Society.
The highlights of the event include opening of stalls by SHGs of MSRLM, ICDS Counter, Testing of Soil by Block Agriculture Staff and Signature/Hand Print pledge.
