Khumji-2 celebrates 61st foundation day

The 61st foundation day of Khumji-2 village under Noney district was celebrated today at Khumji-2 Church compound.
The event was held under the theme "Peace, Unity & Prosperity," with festivities beginning with a traditional procession led by village elders, prominent leaders and local dignitaries.
Dressed in vibrant traditional attire, villagers performed folk dances, played indigenous music and displayed local artistry.
The celebration was graced by Dinganglung Gangmei, retd IAS, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee; Janghemlung Panmei, MLA Tamenglong AC and Hannah Kahmei, IAS, Director, Tribal Affairs & Hills as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
Rev Dr Rathai Riamei, general secretary RBCC, attended as the main speaker of the celebration and delivered the gospel message.
On the occasion, the chief guest unveiled the commemorative monolith dedicated to the village's 61st foundation day, in the presence of Khumji village leaders, Rongmei tribe leaders, representatives of Churches and various CSO leaders of Khumji area.
The act of dedication of the monolith was administered by Rev G Gaiphulung, Pastor Khumji-2 Baptist Church.
The foundation day celebration also honored the daughters of Khumji-2 village who have married and settled in different places and communities with the presentation of simple gifts as a token of love.
The day's festivities included cultural performances by Khumji-2, Cultural & Traditional Society, special music by Thanchuiliu Gangmei, Anutam Riamroi and Mathiuhuam Kamei, traditional cuisine and the presentation of gifts.
Meanwhile, K Athui, Namvpouc (Khumbu) also presented a brief history of the village which was founded in 1963 .
