Imphal, November 02 2024: Agriculture Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh on Saturday inaugurated an "Agro Market Shed" at Pheijaleitong, Thongju Part-II .

Speaking at the inaugural function, Th Biswajit said that rural markets play a crucial role in the development of a State.

"Rural marketing aid in generating employment opportunities in rural areas.

Rural markets can be a major source of income for a State's economy", he added.

He shared that the market shed was constructed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) which aims to promote the development of agriculture and related sectors.

The Minister also expressed hope that the newly inaugurated market shed will be hugely beneficial to the people of Thongju area.

The inaugural function was attended by the Department of Agriculture, Director, N Gojendro Singh; Zilla Parishad.

Member, Romeo; Zilla Parishad, Member, Ranbir and Thongju Part-II, Pradhan, Kanan among others.
