Lockdown: Many turn up with relief items

Imphal, May 02 2020: With the lockdown extended for two more weeks, many turned up with relief materials, especially for the poor and underprivileged.

Essential items distributed at Thangmeiband
In view of the inconveniences caused by the lockdown which is imposed to contain the spread of the COVID-19, social worker Koijam Ramkrishna alias Gogo extended essential items to the residents of Thangmeiband.

Relief Materials distributed at Pallel
MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency, Yengkhom Surchandra and Up-Adhyaksha of Kakching Zilla Parishad, Md Nizamuddin as a part of their continuous relief service provided, edibles to the residents of Pallel at Pallel Maning Primary School yesterday.

PMGKAY rice distribution for the Assembly Constituency has been completed and the distribution of the same for the month of May will be started soon, the MLA said.

Juvenile Association (JA), Kakching Makha Leikai has also extended relief materials to 400 most vulnerable households.

A team of 18 AR, Chandel led by its CO Col Ajit Khatri also reached out to the inmates of the Mission Blind School Heikakpokpi with edibles including rice, cooking oil, salt, milk, sugar, masks, hand gloves etc.

Laingam Loitongbam, proprietor of Yumbi Dairy Industrial Estate Kuraopokpi and Pukhrambam Sunita in memory of his late husband, P Arjun Telheiba also distributed edibles to the Mission Blind School.

Destitute helped
The chairman of Bhubon Technical and Skill Development Private Limited, Naorem Nabachandra has extended edibles and monetary assistance to Hijam Amarjit and Kshetrimayum Dinakumar who are extremely impoverished and taking shelter at Pallel Thong Wangma Community Hall presently.

One individual living with HIV-AIDS, from Phubala Awang Mamang Leikai who has been rushed to the hospital after his condition worsened, was provided relief materials and monetary assistance of Rs 7,000 by a social worker, Thongam Shanti and others.

Hingminnaba Tender Lottery Marup Moirang Thamnapokpi also extended a sum of Rs 6500 each to the HIV-AIDS patient and Khwairakpam Sanatomba, a National level taekwondo player from Phubala Ward no 4 who is suffering from a critical kidney ailment and undergoing treatment in a hospital.

180 select widows from Ward No 1 to 4 of both Moirangkhunou Gram Panchayat (130) and Kha Thinungei Gram Panchayat (50) were also extended edibles as well as sanitary items by the Manipur State Commission for Women today at Moirangkhunou Teramakhong and Thangalawai Sabal Leikai respectively.

Chairperson of the commission, Dr Binota Mainam maintained that the relief materials were distributed with a view to ease the challenges faced by women in rural areas due to the lockdown and urged all to approach the commission if there is any case of violation of women's right.

Various local clubs, social workers and elected representatives also handed out edibles and sanitary items across the district.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad hands out masks, refreshments
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Manipur Prant has joined the relief service in the State today by offering refreshments and masks to medical staff and police personnel who are working relentlessly for the safety and the welfare of the people in face of COVID-19 pandemic.

The distribution programme to motivate the frontline warriors was kicked off from Inter-State Bus Terminus, Khuman Lampak and covered other parts of the Imphal City with key members and volunteers of the VHP State branch actively taking part in it.

Secretary of the VHP Manipur Prant, AK Yashobanta maintained that the programme was conducted to respect and encourage the role of the frontline workers during such a hard time.

VHP will continue to assist and extend relief services, he continued.

Meanwhile, Keva Industry Manipur in association with KEWA Kakching has also presented Acidity Care Drops and KEVA Moringa Extract Drops which can enhance and boost the immune system to the police personnel and posted at different parts of Thoubal.

The same products were also presented to journalists working in the two districts.

Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association also handed out refreshments to the police personnel posted at Sora.

Distribution of food and other essential items were also reported from Moreh, Chandel and Thoubal.
