Capacity building prog on POCSO and JJ Act held

To promote and strengthen special Juvenile Police Units in Senapati district, a one day capacity building programme on POCSO & JJ Act was held at the recreation hall of District Police Headquarters, Senapati, our correspondent reports.
The programme was organized by Manipur Commission for protection of child Rights in partnership with Manipur Alliance for Child Rights (MACR), Senapati Chapter while Wide Angle Social Development Organization, Imphal, sponsored the programme.
The programme was attended by S Saratkumar Sharma, Chairperson, Manipur Commission for Protections of Child Rights as chief guest, K Kabib, Superintendent of Police, Senapati, as functional president and N Brajakanta Singh, Lecturer, Manipur Judicial Academy and Thiyam Rajkishore, Chairperson, CWC, Imphal West, as special invitees.
S Saratkumar Sharma said the Commission for Child Rights was set up to protect a child from rape, trafficking, child labour, child marriage, abortion of girl child.
Running a boarding facility to house students has become a popular and profitable trade with little or no concern whether the facility is fit enough to house minors, has enough space, living room, proper dining facility, educational and healthcare provision to ensure standard care and protection.
He urged the public to join hands with the forces to protect the rights of a child.
Senapati SP K Kabib thanked the organizer for the educational programme.
He said safety and security is integral to the well being of all children and they need protection from all forms of harm, abuse, neglect, violence, mal-treatment and exploitation in all settings including schools, hospitals, family and community.
