Various relief activities are continuing at different districts and locations of the State as the lockdown due to COVID-19 continue to challenge each and every family.
In a heart-warming gesture, Konjengbam Birendra Singh, his wife Shanti and daughter, Mona came out to help physically and mentally retarded persons and lockdown affected families at Moirang Konjengbam Leikai with edibles such as potatoes, rice, cooking oil, ngari, soaps, detergent powder today.
On the other hand, Phairembam Ongbi Nirmala Devi, Phairembam Kameshwore Singh and Phairembam Ongbi Pratibha Devi jointly distributed edible items to around 300 households of Moirang Thana Leikai.
Biken Ningthoujam, general secretary of Kumbi College Students' Union also reached out to around most deprived 300 families at various localities under Kumbi AC with edibles since April 23.While appealing local MLA and social workers to give additional priorities to most deprived households, the student leader promise to extend all possible help from the union's side.
Meanwhile, Tamil Sangam Moreh also provided food supplies to at least 1,100 households in Moreh.
CRPF hands out sanitary items, protective gears
109 Bn CRPF under the aegis of IGP Manipur and Nagaland sector conducted civic action programme today at Pouna Village, Senapati.
In this programme, safety items like surgical face masks, hand sanitizers, hand gloves, hand wash and floor cleaner (Lizol) were distributed to village/club presidents operating at Senapati area for further distribution to the marginalised section of Pouna village area, said a statement issued by 109 Bn CRPF.
All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) Sekmaijin and Kakching Khunou units have also extended edibles to localities under their respective jurisdictions.
In the meantime, The United Club and Library, Uripok Khwairak Selungba Leirak and Uripok Gopalaji Leirak Youths' Association have lauded All Manipur United Club's Organisation (AMUCO) for helping the tenants living on rented accommodations at their respective area with rice today.
Relief materials were also distributed at Wangbal Part II by the Education Gym Club and at Kongpal Eranfam Thongkhong by Kongpal Kshetri Leikai and Kongpal Naoroibam Leikai Singlup to its singlup members following social distancing norms.
TD & Fisheries Minister distributes rice in Oklong areas
The Minister has also donated water to Senapati Town Committee to ease the scarcity of water in DHQ areas.
Starting last week, the Tadubi AC Minister has distributed rice to several villages in Makeng Chajingba areas, New Eden and Katomei circle villages.
Yesterday, similar humanitarian relief was also extended in Makuilongdi areas which include 3 villages while Oklong area villages included Oklong Khullen, Oklong Khunou and Maryram under Senapati sub-division.
AJUCA reaches out
In a goodwill gesture amidst the lockdown, All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA), Jiribam in collaboration with COVID-19 Coordinating Cell led by Jiribam DC, have doled out rice, masks, sanitisers and hand gloves to the residents of Phaituol and Kaiphundai villages under Tamenglong district today.
The relief work at the two villages was done with the assistance of Hmar National Union.
Rice to the tune of 4 quintals was handed over to women society and chairman of Kaiphundai village for distribution to all residents.
Earlier AJUCA had distributed vegetables presented by village authority of Kaiphundai, to the medical staff, police personnel and media persons who are working at the front line in the fight against COVID-19, reports our correspondent.
Nampiu Pou, chairman of Kaiphundai village also expressed gratefulness to AJUCA for their samaritan work.
Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council also distributed relief items to different households in Uran Chiru in Kangpokpi district today.

Having extended Personal Protection Equipments to COVID-19 frontline warriors, L Veerjit Singh protocol officer and media advisor to president BJP Manipur Pradesh has extended a sum of Rs 10,000 each to All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA) and Jiribam Development Organisation's (JDO) COVID-19 relief fund as well as masks, hand sanitisers and hand gloves on behalf of the political party.
The two associations also expressed appreciation to the party for extending monetary assistance to them and assisting them in carrying out relief work.
