KNF warns contractors regarding PMGSY works

Alleging the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) initiative of failing to serve its purpose with regards to the hill people and the far flung rural areas due to the alleged issuing and execution of works below the scheduled rate, the Kuki National Front (KNF) has warned the intending contractors, not to bid on any PMGSY works below the scheduled rate within its jurisdiction of Kangpokpi district .
The Director, Project and Planning of the outfit, Andrew K alleged that inspite of huge amount of sanctions from the Government, the road construction under PMGSY has failed to serve its purpose to the hill residents in the far flung rural areas thereby robbing the hill people of their rightful developmental schemes .
He also said that many of the roads constructed under PMGSY in the past remains unmotorable owing to the poor quality of work even till today and added that apart from various tremendous hardships faced by the people, many developmental schemes and projects have been missed due to the deplorable roads .
He further said that the survey team of the outfit has come to the conclusion that the main reason for the poor and substandard quality of PMGSY work is issuing and execution of the work with unreasonable rates, below the scheduled rate, at the time of tender process .
"As a consequence, such unreasonably low rate quotation below the scheduled rate at the time of tender process by the agencies or contractors should be stop at once within the jurisdiction of KNF in Kangpokpi district", asserted Andrew K .
He said that intending contractors must avoid bidding any PMGSY works below the scheduled rate in the jurisdiction of the outfit in Kangpokpi and added that it is also an attention call to all intending contractors for Phase XI within the outfit's jurisdiction that strict vigilance on quality of work and timely execution shall be maintained.
He also urged the department concerned not to entertain such contractors who tender below the schedule rate of the department to work within the jurisdiction of KNF.
