State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi will be meeting the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram in New Delhi tomorrow to insist him on putting pressure on the NSCN-IM to hand over the accused persons involved in the brutal murder of Kasom Khullen SDO, Dr Thingnam Kishan and his two subbordinate staff to the state government.
With a mission to obtain the Centre's help in getting the accused cadres of NSCN-IM booked and tried under the law of the land in Manipur, the Chief Minister left Imphal for New Delhi today.
He will also meet other Union Ministers and is likely to meet the Prime Minister as well during his sojourn in New Delhi, and impress upon them the need for having those cadres of NSCN-IM, who committed the heinous crime, in Manipur for initiating legal proceedings against them.
Reliable sources said that as soon as the NSCN-IM had claimed last evening that one of its Commanding Officers by the name of 'Lt Col' H Ningshen was the mastermind behind the brutal triple murder, the Chief Minister wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram urging him to direct the NSCN-IM to hand over those involved in the murder case to the Government of Manipur so that legal proceedings may be taken up against them in order to do justice to the departed innocent souls and their aggrieved families and the people of Manipur as quickly as possible.
The Chief Minister wrote in his letter that the accused culprits must be booked and tried under the law of the land.
The NSCN-IM which is on a ceasefire agreeement with the Government of India has committed a number of similar crimes in Manipur during the past many years.
This must be stopped once and for all, the letter had stated.
He also mentioned about the recent massacre of five labourers from Manipur valley who were working at Maphou dam in Thoubal district by suspected Naga rebels.
The incident of kidnap of two small boys, namely Hrini Hubert and Mohni Martin and their subsequent brutal murder and burial in an isolated hill in Senapati district by some culprits last year, and several other incidents were also mentioned in the letter.
The letter was despatched to the Union Home Minister last night itself, the sources revealed.
Carrying copies of the same letter, the Chief Minister left Imphal for New Delhi where he would be submitting the same to Union Ministers.
