Textile park to come up at Loitang Khunou

Along with taking over around 15 acres of land out of 30 acres occupied by the now defunct Manipur Spinning Mill Corporation at Loitang Khunou, the Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Manipur has started taking up steps to set up a textile park.
This development has come about after the Commerce and Industries Department issued a notification on May 31 last dissolving Manipur Spinning Mill Corporation.
The proposed textile park to be named, Panthoibi Textile Park, is to be set up under the Easy-Exit Scheme of the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industries.
According to a source in the Commerce and Industries Department, in connection with setting up the proposed Panthoibi Textiles Park, proposal has been submitted to the Infrastructure Leasing Finance Service (ILFS), India.
In the proposed Textile Park, the Government would be providing the required facilities including power and water supply.
Besides development of plots and approach roads, there would be facilities for common facility centre, power-loom weaving, embroidery, fabric processing and finishing units, the source pointed.
On the other hand, the Government of India has reportedly sanctioned Rs 5.10 crores for setting Urban Haat inside the complex of Mechanised Dye House at Iroisemba.
Out of the total sanctioned amount, Rs 1.4 crores have already been released.
In addition to this, the Government of Manipur has provided Rs 96 lakh.
However, the process of setting up the proposed Urban Haat has been delayed on account of the recent flood in Iroisemba area.
A project report has also been submitted to the Cane & Bamboo Technology Mission (CBTC) for setting up of a Bamboo processing park at the now defunct Bamboo Chipping Plant at Jiribam.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 5 crores, the source added.
Fish Fair : In connection with Ningol Chakkouba festival, the Fishermen Cell of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh would be organising a fish fair at its Nityaipat Chuthek head office complex on October 27, Convenor of Fishermen Cell, BJP Manipur Pradesh L Jitendra Singh informed in a statement.
Fishermen from different parts of Manipur may participated in the fair and can contact the Headoffice of the party for further details.
Chakkouba fair:The Ningol Chakkouba Festive Fair, 2011 has commenced from yesterday at the community hall of Singjamei Naorem Leikai.
The Festive Fair is being organized by District Industries Centre (DIC), Imphal West.
Garment of different types wove by around 500 members from 34 Self Help Groups under Naorem Leikai Handloom Clusters are being displayed and put up for sale in the stalls of the fair.
