17 more test positive for COVID-19

Imphal, June 15 2020:
Continuing with the upward trend, 17 more samples tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS and JNIMS during the last 24 hours.
According to information received from JNIMS, 658 samples were tested for COVID-19 at the institute and six of them were found positive.
Meanwhile, 14 people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at JNIMS have been tested negative and they would be discharged shortly.
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that 11 people were tested positive at RIMS late last night.
They came back to State from other parts of the country recently.
Meanwhile, a survey carried out by the Health Department's media team found that 39.5 per cent of pedestrians do not wear face masks.
Three per cent of the pedestrians who do not wear face masks cite financial reason, 26.7 per cent cite medical reasons while the remaining 70 do not give any reason at all for not wearing face mask.
It has been repeatedly declared by authorities that wearing face masks is quite helpful in protecting oneself and checking spread of novel coronavirus.
