Imphal, November 13 2017: As part of the coming Manipur Sangai tourism festival, the Art and Culture Department of the State is planning to enthral the tourists as well as the people of Manipur by showing various cultural programmes at seven different venues.

According to an official source from the Cultural Subcommittee for Sangai Festival 2017 of the Art and Culture Department, Manipur Sangai festival will be held across seven different venues for the first time in the State, namely Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) at Palace Compound, Khuman Lampak, Lamboi-khongnangkhong, Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen (for Shumang Leela Festival), Manipur State Film Development Society/MSFDS (for International FilmFestival), Manipur University of Culture (Symposium) and Maharaja Chandrakriti auditorium (Ballet) .

Last year, the Tourism Department sanctioned around Rs 52 lakh to the Cultural Subcommittee for Sangai Festival 2016 for organising the various cultural programmes.

However, the Art and Culture Department had to sanction an extra Rs 7 lakh as the budget was not enough for the programmes, thus raising the total budget to Rs 59 lakh.

The cost of organising this year's festival will be far greater compared to previous year as the festival will be held across seven venues, the official added.

On the first day of the Sangai festival, which will be inaugurated at BOAT, a 45 minute choreographic presentation called Kasa Paotakpa by artistes of Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy, will be showcased.

Maibi Jagoi, Thang Ta, Dasa Avataar, Saila dance of Madhya Pradesh, Pung Cholom and Basanta Raas will be shown on the second day.

On the third day, dance drama, cultural performance by artistes of Jiribam district, Kamjong district and Senapati district, Khubak Ishei, Taibang Mitamlon dance drama, Karma dance of Madhya Pradesh and cultural performance of Zimbawe will be showcased.

The fourth day will be marked by cultural performance of Ukhrul district, Churachandpur district and Kangpokpi district, folk song, Thang Ta, Eikhoigi Iranyai dance drama, Sambalpuri folk dance, Kathak dance, Assamese dance performance and cultural performance of Zimbawe.

Cultural performance of Pherzawl district, Chandel district and Tamenglong district, Thang Ta, Pung Cholom, Odisha Sambalpuri folk dance, Assamese dance performance and Vadya Vrinda (Instrumental music composition) will mark the fifth day.

Cultural performance of Senapati district, Jiribam district, Noney district, Kamjong district and Tengnoupal district, Taal Nachom, Thailand cultural performance and dance performance of Himachal Pradesh will be showcased on the sixth day.

On the seventh day, cultural performance of Kangpokpi district, Ukhrul district and Churachandpur district, Thang Ta, Pung Cholom, dance performance of Himachal Pradesh, cultural performance of Thailand, dance performance of Arunachal Pradesh and fusion music will be shown.

On the eight day of the festival, cultural performance of Chandel district, Tamenglong district and Pherzawl district, Thang Ta, Madhya Pradesh cultural performance, Thougal Jagoi, Nagaland dance performance, Chumthang dance composition and Arunachal Pradesh dance will be shown.

The ninth day will be marked by cultural performances of Noney district and Tengnoupal district, Dhol Cholom, Thang Ta, Nagaland dance performance, Mangfadraba Lan (Timeless Treasure) dance composition and fusion parade.

The last day of the festival be will be marked by a 45 minute long choreographic presentation, Ima, by N Amusana Devi.

For the second venue of the Sangai festival where cultural performances will be showcased, Pamyanlon folk dance, Lavni (Maharastra), Dhol Dholok Cholom and Lambadi (Andhra Pradesh) will mark the beginning of the festival on November 22 .

On the second day, November 23, Harao Leikal Jagoi, Faidiba dance (Tripura), Thang Ta and Santhali dance (Jharkhand) will be shown.

The third day will be marked by Pamyanlon Jagoi, Maria dance (Madhya Pradesh), Thang Ta and Cheraw (Mizoram) .

On the fourth day, Kwatha Rock Band, Gujarat Dandiya Raas, Pung Cholom and Taina Taina (Tamil Nadu) will be shown.

On the fifth day, Thang Ta , Lavni (Maharastra), Nachom (fusion music) and Tripura Faidiba dance will be showcased.

On the sixth day, Lamhil Thadou Kuki, Thang Ta and Vadyavrinda, will be showcased and on the seventh day, Chakpa Haraoba Thougal Jagoi, folk fusion music by TAIREN and Dandiya Raas (Gujarat) will be shown.

The last day, November 29 will be marked by Pena performance, Kabui dance and Mangalduda dance drama.

Meanwhile, on November 22, Harao Leikal Jagoi, Tripura Faidiba dance, Thang Ta and Santhali dance of Jharkhand will be showcased at Lamboikhongnangkhong, the third cultural performance venue.

On the second day, Pamyanlon folk dance, Lavni (Maharastra), Dhol Dholok Cholom and Lambadi (Andhra Pradesh) will be showcase.

The third day will be marked by Kwatha Rock Band, Gujarat Dandiya Raas, Pung Cholom and Tamil Nadu's Taina Taina.

The fourth day will comprise of Pamyanlon Jagoi, Maria dance (Madhya Pradesh), Thang Ta and Cheraw (Mizoram) while the fifth day will be marked by Holi Pala, Thadou Kuki Lamhil, Thang Ta and Mangalduda.

The sixth day will be signified by Thang Ta, Maharastra's Lavni, Nachom (fusion music) and Tripura's Faidiba dance.

The seventh day will be marked by Pena performance, Kabui dance and music composition.

The eight day will be marked by Chakpa Haraoba Thougal Jagoi, folk fusion music and Gujarat Dandiya Raas.

On the other hand, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council will organised Shumang Leela festival at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen from November 22 to November 29 .

Manipur State Film Development Society will also organise the 3rd Sangai International Film Festival from November 25 to November 29 at MSFDS hall.

Meanwhile, Manipur University of Culture will organise a Symposium on Manipuri Culture, from November 22 to November 26 at Dave Literature Centre, DM College.

On November 24, Kala Samooh, Bhopal, will showcase Mriganayani (ballet) at Maharaja Chandrakriti auditorium.

The official further stated that various cultural programmes will also be showcased at Palace Compound to enthral the visitors and the public as a part of the Sangai festival.
