Widows in Mongsangei benefit from CAPs extended by 109 Bn CRPF

109 Battalion CRPF under the aegis of IGP Manipur and Nagaland sector conducted a civic action programme on November 6 at Mongsangei area in which sewing machines were distributed to the marginalised widows of the said area.
The programme was organised with an objective to extend a friendly and helping hand to the poor widows and to help them in making themselves financially sustainable, said a press release issued by Commandant, 109 Bn CRPF.
District Council Imphal West president RK Taruni and founder of Little Master English Higher Secondary School, Shamurou Imphal West graced the function as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively among others.
Commandant Vinod Kumar and Deputy Commandant Vinod Sawant organised the programme with an aim to connect with the people, it said and added that a cultural programme was organised as well.
In his speech, Commandant Vinod Kumar lauded the chief guest and the president for extending an opportunity to serve them and urged the local administration to fulfil the needs of the people.
Vinod Kumar expressed that the unit will continue to serve the people of Manipur by carrying out more humanitarian work.
In past, 109 Bn CRPF had handed over water storage tanks in the area and the Bn has also distributed walking sticks, wheel chair, walker and hearing aid to Al Manipur Handicapped School and old age home of the locality.
It further stated that the Battalion has constructed one passenger shed at Karong and distributed sewing machines on August 11 to widows of Senapati apart from carrying out manu CAPs in the last couple of years in Imphal West and Senapati districts.
Village president of various villages and distinguished guests present in the occasion praised the unit for its noble and commendable initiatives.
