2 hurt in village boundary dispute in Senapati

Imphal, January 06 2011:
A LAND dispute between villagers of two neighbouring villages in Kangpokpi sub-division on Wednesday evening led to a clash leaving two persons injured.
The clash erupted between Thanglong and Shongyong villages 30 km away from Kangpokpi police station, Senapati district.
Paomillan Kipgen alias Paobi (22) son of Mangkam Kipgen and Lamkhomang Kipgen (30) son of Late Seilet Kipgen, both from Shongyang village were severely injured and admitted to a hospital in Kangpokpi, official reports said.
The clash erupted around 3.30 pm when some Thanglong villagers entered a disputed area at boundary between the two villages.
In the clash which lasted for about 30 minutes, some unascertained villagers fired arms and in the firing two villagers sustained bullet injuries.
Thanglong villagers alleged that they sustained injuries in the firing by troops of 10 Dogra Regiment while trying to bring the situation under control.
The tension among the villagers still persists but situation is under control, police said.
