Imphal, July 24 2009: Troops of the 34 Assam Rifles along with police commandos of thoubal district apprehended five cadres activists of the KCP (MC), PLA and PREPAK organisations from different places in the past three days.

According to PRO IGAR (S) statement issued today, the joint security team arrested three armed cadres of the KCP-MC on July 22 from Malom/Lairangthel and recovered one pistol, a revolver and demand letters.

The arrested trio have been identified as SS Pvt Ningthoujam Sunil Meitei (23) s/o N Inongo Singh of Yairipok Top Chingtha Laijing Khung Leikai, SS Pvt Th Premjit Meitei (28) s/o Th Khama Meitei of Yairipok Top Chingtha Mathak Leikai and SS Pvt A Nanao Singh (22) s/o Chutle Singh of Andro Khoibu Leikai.

On july 23, yet another operation was launched by the unit which resulted in the apprehension of one PLA cadre from Salungpham, said the statement that identified the captive as SS Cpl (Org-Div 3) Th Nandobi alias Kisan s/o Th Biren of Salungpham Mayai Leikai.

The same unit based on information established a mobile vehicle check post in general area Slopeland on July 24 resulting in the apprehension of a PREPAK cadre at 11.15 am.

The PRO identified the PREPAK cadre as one Sapam Arun Singh alias Khampet (32) s/o S Khomei of Sapam Mayai Leikai.

Both apprehendees have been handed over to Thoubal police station today, it added.

SP (thoubal) Clay Khongsai, in a statement informed of a joint team of district police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles having arrested one member each of the UNLF and PREPAK (MC) organisations from Hiyanglam area at around 4 am today.

The UNLF cadre has been identified as Elangbam Boinao Singh (20) s/o Manaoba Singh of Hiyanglam Makha Leikai and the PREPAK (MC) cadre as one Thokchom Dinesh Singh (31) s/o Th Iboyai of Thoubal Leishangthem.

Boinao (Army No 2211 of 37th batch), reportedly disclosed of being an active member of the UNLF.

Dinesh (2237) also revealed he is an active member of PREPAK (MC) and was involved in firing and throwing/hurling of grenades against the general public and working in the finance Section of the organisation, claimed the police statement while adding that one country made pistol has been recovered from the possession of E Boinao Singh.

On the other hand, acting on credible information, Imphal West District Police Commandos arrested two KCP (MC) activists from Kakwa Naorem leikai at around 5.30 pm yesterday, according to a statement issued by Senior SP of Imphal West District L Kailun today.

Identifying the arrested activists as Oinam Abung Singh (22) s/o Oinam Biren Singh of Thanga Karang and Nongthombam Chandramani Singh (30) s/o Nongthombam Amu Singh of Moirang Phoujakai Awang Leikai, the SSP informed that on spot verification, the arrested duo disclosed that they joined the proscribed outfit in January 2009 through one Raju alias Moirangjao and working under his command.

The SSP further informed that based on further interrogation, one more KCP (MC) activist identified as Maimom Jayenta Singh (42) s/o Maimom Samungou Singh of Bashikhong Mamang Leikai was also arrested from his house yesterday.
