Imphal, June 18 2021: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East today rejected the bail application filed by Kangujam Karnajit on health ground and remanded him to judicial custody in connection with a suo moto case registered against him at Porompat Police Station for concealing oxygen cylinder and oxygen concentrators which were supposed to be distributed to the Covid patients.

Karnajit was produced before the Court after the completion of three days of police custody.

He were kept in isolation after he tested positive for COVID-19.The Court after hearing both parties rejected the bail application and remanded the accused to judicial custody till July 2 .

However, keeping the life and health of the accused at priority, SP Jail and SP Imphal East have been advised to provide all due care and requisite medical treatment to the accused during the period of custody.

The officials have also been advised to allow treatment of the accused in a well equipped private hospital as per the desire of his family members by making necessary security arrangements.
