Imphal, May 14 2024: In an incident that is as macabre as it was chilling, a man hacked his mother to death at Sangaiprou Kabui Khul today at around 7.30 pm.

The killer son has been identified as Sanjiv Das (26) while the deceased is Kamei Madhu (65), w/o Late Ganesh Das from Assam.

Kamei Madhu has been staying at Kabui Khul even after her marriage with Ganesh Das who passed away about two years ago.

Reportedly, Sanjiv Das stayed at a rehab centre to get treated about one and half years back.

He killed his mother using a butcher knife from behind.

Sanjiv Das was arrested by Lamphel police soon after the spine chilling incident along with the knife used in the crime.

Kamei Madhu retired from RIMS as a nurse last year.

The corpse has been deposited at RIMS mortuary.
