Imphal, June 13 2024:
The recent ambush on the advance security team of Chief Minister N Biren who was planning to visit Jiribam at K Sinam Village has clearly shown that some powerful people are backing the Kuki militants, said Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace (KIKJCCP) co-convenor Yumnam Ibeyaima.
Speaking to the media at Khwairamband Keithel today, Ibeyaima continued that Kuki narco-terrorists resumed its offensive against the Meeteis after the result of 18th Lok Sabha elections was declared and it speaks volume of the nexus between people in power and the narco-terrorists.
Accusing the Centre and the State Government of turning a blind eye to the transgression of Kuki narco-terrorists, she asked whether the Governments want Meeteis to suffer more.

Many companies of Central forces have been sent to Manipur since the violence broke out over a year ago but there still is no solution in sight, she said and asked what the Central forces have been doing all these months.
Claiming that the NIA has formulated a plot to arrest the people who come out to defend the land and resources of Manipur and the lives of civilians, Ibeyaima urged the Manipur Government to realise all the threats which the State and her people have been facing and do the needful.
Where have all the 50 MLAs (not including the 10 Chin Kuki MLAs) who spoke so much of protecting the State during the time of election gone, she asked and appealed to these 50 MLAs to come out and state their stand on Manipur violence publicly.
"Let's protect Manipur together," she said in the appeal to the legislators.
She also demanded that the Security Advisor and DGP must be replaced with other efficient officials as they failed to avert the violence in Jiribam despite getting intelligence reports of the threat building up at the border district more than once.
Entrust the positions of Security Advisor and DGP to officials who know Manipur well, she demanded.
KIKJCCP convenor Laishram Mema, on the other hand, urged the Central and State Governments to admit if they cannot control the Kuki militants and work out a solution to the protracted crisis in Manipur.
"Let the public face the Kuki aggressors if the Governments at the Centre and Manipur aren't going to do anything to protect the people and resolve the crisis," she said.
Memma continued that many Meetei youths were compelled to come out and stand guard at periphery and foothill villages voluntarily as the security forces have miserably failed to protect the lives and properties of the people.
She also appealed to all the 50 MLAs to stop clinging to the seats of power and do some action to stop the atrocity of Kuki militants.
The traders at Khwairamband Keithel shouted in unison for the Manipur Government to man up and deal with the issue in Manipur boldly during the press briefing.
They also condemned the Indian Government for allegedly letting the violence to linger on.
