Imphal, February 05: A division bench of the Gauhati High Court has upheld an earlier Court's ruling that sentenced an individual to life imprisonment for stabbing to death another person in a case dating back to 1986 .

The earlier ruling was passed by the Additional Session Judge, Manipur East (Fast Track Court) sentencing Mutum Saityaban Singh to life imprisonment after convicting him under section 302 IPC.

On August 22, 1986, Saityaban Singh stabbed to death one Moirangthem Lukhoisana at a place under Lamphel Police Station.

The accused challenged the earlier Court ruling but it was rejected by the High Court today.

Md Jalaluddin, Additional Government Advocate (High Court) appeared on behalf of the State.

Vaccination camp : The 5th Assam Rifles today conducted a free Hepatitis B Vaccination camp at the community health centre, Jiribam.

More than 300 people were given treatment.

The while people of Jiri have lauded the AR for conducting the said camp.
