LFCA, THYC celebrate foundation day

Linda Folk& Classical Academy (LFCA), Nagamapal Soram Leikai, celebrated its 24th Foundation Day at JN Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal on Sunday.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Budga Chingtham, Member, Board of Governors, EZCC Kolkata, Ministry of Culture, Government of India; G Dharmadas Sharma, Director, Department of Art & Culture, Manipur and Sunanda Thokchom, Secretary, Manipur State Kala Akademi.
Speaking on the occasion, Budha Chingtham said that many communities across the globe are experiencing a significant and widespread breakdown of its traditional values, practices, and identity due to the overwhelming influence of globalized culture or globalization.
"There is complete complete cultural disorder as many local customs have been replaced by dominant Western norms and consumerism, creating new hybrid cultural forms", he added.
Highlighting that Manipur is best introduced to the world through its rich performing arts & culture, Sunanda Thokchom urged all to provide their support in preserving and developing the age-old cultural heritage preserved & bestowed by the ancestors.
During the event, the gathering observed one minute of silence to pray for the volunteers who are camping at various places to protect their motherland.
It was followed by felicitation of teachers and senior artists of Linda Folk & Classical Academy.
Artistes of the academy also presented "Maibi Jagoi", "Thougal Jagoi", "Mao Jagoi", "Kabui Jagoi", "Lai Haraoba", "Gouranga Roop Barman" and "Tanum" .
Thangmeiband Youth Centre (THYC) also celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykishan announced that all major roads in Thangmeiband AC will soon be repaired and renovated with durable concrete pavements.
Seeking cooperation & support of the people, the MLA said that any kind of development works will not be possible without first restoring peace & normalcy in the State.
He continued that development works have been undertaken in the constituency for the welfare of the people even during the outbreak of Covid pandemic and the conflict which began on May 3, 2023.Khumukcham Joykishan also conveyed his appreciation to THYC and expressed hope that the centre will continue to work for the betterment of the Thangmeiband area and the State.
