AITUC Manipur Branch calls for support to Nationwide strike in Jan

Demanding the authorities concerned and Central Government to release due wages for all employees and workers affiliated to All India Trade Union Congress AITUC, at the earliest, L Sotinkumar AITUC, State general secretary said that AITUC is organising a Nationwide general strike on January 8 and9, next year.
He was speaking at a one day convention of Imphal City District Committee jointly organised by Imphal City District Committee and AITUC Manipur Branch.
AITUC Manipur, vice president, S Yaima, general secretary, L Sotinkumar, executive member, Th Suresh, All Manipur Shops and Establishment Employees Association, president, S Chandrafnani, Anganwadi Workers Helpers and Mini Workers Union, Manipur, convenor, O Inaocha, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup, general secretary, L Memma and Working Women Forum Manipur, secretary, Y Indrani attended the event as presidium members.
Maintaining that there are over 66 organisations/associations affiliated to AITUC, Manipur, L Sotinkumar said that the Nationwide strike was called by AITUC to take up the issue and grievances of the workers and employees to the Centre and authorities concerned.
Despite several strikes and agitations, he informed that the employees and workers under AITUC are still not provided with the proposed monthly minimum salary/honorarium of Rs 18,000 per month.
With no appropriate pay/honorariums, the workers all over India are facing the brunt of price hikes, he said.
Urging all the workers and employees concerned to support AITUC in the proposed strike in their respective areas, he said that a poster campaign will also be held and leaflets will be distributed to the public regarding the issue.
