Molnom chief dismisses allegation

Imphal, April 06 2016: Lunkhoson Haokip, chief of Molnom village, Chandel district has dismissed the allegation against him by one Munthuireng Aimol as baseless, concocted and false.

In a statement, Molnom village chief said that in total contrast to the press statement made by Munthuireng Aimol, the village land of Molnom was legally procured with full traditional procedures from the neighbouring Aimol Satu, Aimol Khunjai and Aimol Kumbirei in 1966 .

Portion of land that presently served as the residential area of Molnom village was bought with sale deed agreement by Hemngam Haokip from (L) Rangngaisan Aimol of Aimol Satu village.

And the land portion that serves as the village football ground was legally bought with sale deed agreement from (L) Songpu Aimol of Aimol Khunjai village in 1966 AD by Lunkhothang Haokip aka Thangpu Haokip.

Thus, the land portions bought by Hemngam Haokip and Lunkhothang aka Thangpu made up the present Molnom village.

The current KBC Church campus area of Molnom village land portion was obtained from the villagers of Aimol Kumbirei under traditional offering of a fully grown cow which was made into "Sa Singju" which was happily shared by the villagers of Aimol Kumbirei and Molnom village.

The age old monoliths, village elders of Molnom, Aimol Khunjai, Aimol Satu and that of Aimol Kumbirei are the living witnesses of the foundation of Molnom village.

Hence, the press statement of one Munthuireng Aimol is completely false and misleading, he said.

Lunkhoson Haokip said he assumed chiefship after Hemngam Haokip and Lunkhothang Haokip transferred their land ownership of Molnom village to him under sale deed agreement in 2011 with full traditional and customary procedures.

As such Munthuireng Aimol's claim was a hollow one that fails to hold any water and the question of force acquisition of Aimol land by Molnom village doesn't arise.

No sane individual would make such press statement like what Munthuireng Aimol did or else the press statement must be done with the intention to ignite inter village feud and rivalry which could affect the tranquil atmosphere of the area that could hinder any development initiatives and efforts and it is very unfortunate, the chief said.

Instead of falling prey to the cheap and false press statement of Munthuireng Aimol, people of the area must be on guard in the future and as he (Munthuireng Aimol) is person who can't go well along with his people he ought to be socially boycotted in the interest of peaceful coexistence of the people of the said area, he said.
