Notwithstanding the inability of reaping any benefit from the three previous summits, the State Government has made necessary preparations for participation in the 4th North East Business Summit scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at Guwahati on September 15 and 16 .
A joint meeting of the officials of various Departments chaired by Chief Secretary Rakesh at his office chamber today finalised the officials and the Departments which would be participating in the summit.
The meeting decided that an official team of Industries, Horticulture, Agriculture, IT and Power Department to be led by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would be participating in the 4th summit to be organised jointly by the Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) and Indian Chamber of Commerce.
Even if no investor could be attracted during the three previous summits, it was also decided that this time if any of the investors were interested in setting up projects related to the participating Departments, then the State Government would make offer for providing the required land.
Apart from separate sessions on 'North East : Opportunities Unlimited; Chief Ministers' Conclave : Perspective & Strategies for Development; Special session on Look East Policy-Building International Partnerships, Infrastructure, Agro & Food Processing sector, Handloom and Handicrafts, Tourism, IT & Skill development, the 4th Summit summit would also have special International session with Chamber of Commerce representatives from Singapore, Bangladesh, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia and Australia.
Union Minister of External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of Development of North Eastern Region Mani Shankar Aiyar and Minister of Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahai are said to be among some of the high profile personalities who have confirmed their presence in the summit.
