Imphal, January 27, 2011:
Reacting to claim by PRO IGAR (S) about arrest of two persons for their connection with the proscribed KCP, Military Affairs secretary of KCP (MC) Lanheiba Meitei has dismissed the claim as baseless and an attempt by the security force to project innocent civilians as UG activists.
Describing the PRO claim as yet another testimony of the Assam Rifles trying to mislead the public, Lanheiba opined that organising military civic action programmes to woo the locals is bound to backfire as the people are well aware of suppressive ploy under the cover of development activities.
With regard to the arrest of two persons, a KCP (MC) statement contended that Khumanlambam Gandhi Singh (45) s/o Kh Samu Singh and Khumanlambam Ibungo Singh (31) s/o Kh Ngoubi Singh of Nongren Mayai Leikai were pulled up from their homes by a team of 23 Assam Rifles led by one Maj Bodani due to misinformation by a zoro belonging to the Meitei community.
Asserting that both are innocent civilians, Lanheiba also clarified that KCP (MC) have no individuals in its organisation who are yet to receive military training and cautioned zoros to retrospect their role and activities before undesired consequences befall on them.
Lanheiba also denied involvement of the outfit in the abduction of autorichshaw driver Potsangbam Sanajaoba Singh (28) s/o P Pishak from Lamboikhul, but presently staying at Porompat area.
KCP (MC) believes in the principle of 'for the people, of the soil and by the comrades', and will never indulge in abduction for ransom.
It also warned impostors to desist from maligning image of KCP (MC).
