'International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking' celebrated all over State

Bpr/Chd/Kak/Tpl, June 26 2022: As observed across the globe, International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated in the State today to spread awareness about the global drug problem and eliminate drug abuse.

BISHNUPUR
Bishnupur District Police also observed "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" today at Police HQ Bishnupur as part of Nashe Se Azadi Pakhwada and War on Drugs 2.0 .

It was attended by N Herojit Singh, SP Bishnupur; Additional SP OPS, Roni Mayengbam; Additional SP LO, Satyam Takhellambam; ANUL vice president, N Bimola; and Associate Professor, Md Rafi Shah as presidium members.

As part of the event, 14 police personnel of the district were also awarded commendation certificates.

Moreover, Meira Paibis, clubs and organisations of Thanga AC under the sponsorship of Komol and Kumari Foundation also organised a bike & car rally to celebrate "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" .

The rally was flagged off from Keibul Lamjao by Soma Laishram and Ningthoujam Uttamkumar, chairman of Komol and Kumari Foundation.

Later, a public meeting was also held at Keibul with social scientist Dhanabir Laishram as resource person.

CHANDEL
To mark the day, Chandel District Police also organised an awareness rally at Chandel District Headquarters.

The rally went from Chandel Police Station to DC Lamkhai, Chandel before culminating at Chandel PS. It was participated by over 150 District Police Officers and personnel led by SP/Chandel, Additional SP, SDPO and OC/CDL PS .

KAKCHING
In line with the observance of "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking", Kakching District Police in association with Anahata Mind Foundation organised a Men's Open Cross Country Run (15 km) from Waikhong Police Station to Indoor Stadium, Kakching.

The rally was flagged off by Romendro, Additional SP Kakching with OC Kakching and OC Sugnu from Waikhong after taking a pledge by all participants to further the message of Anti drug usage.

A total of 56 participants took part in the Run including several police personnel.

The top 3 participants were awarded cash prizes while 5 others were given consolation prizes.

The youngest and oldest participants were also facilitated.

TENGNOUPAL
On the occasion of "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking", District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Chandel under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) and in collaboration with Tengnoupal District Police conducted a one day legal awareness cum medical camp at Primary Health Centre Moreh today.

Moreover, a one day legal awareness cum sensitization programme for "Investigation of the cases under NDPS Act 1958 for police officers and army personnel" was also held at IB Guest House, Moreh Police.

It was attended by Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, Chairman DLSA Chandel cum District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West District; Lamkhanpau Tonsing, Special Judge NDPS Court Lamphel; S Mangaleibi, Judicial Magistrate First Class cum Civil Judge Junior Division Moreh; David J Vaiphei, panel advocate DLSA Chandel; Sukumar, ASP (LO) Moreh; Y Premjit, ASP (Ops) and Kh Gojen, CMO Tengnoupal.

Personnel of Moreh police, Tengnoupal police, Commando, 5 Assam Rifles, 20 Assam Rifles and members of KSO also took part in the event.

ASSAM RIFLES
To mark the "International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking", Sajik Tampak Battalion under the aegis of IGAR(S) conducted a drug awareness lecture on June 26 at Tuilelon village community hall, Chandel district.

The lecture was conducted after the culmination of a Motorcycle Rally organised by Chapikarong Police Station in collaboration with Sajik Tampak Bn, Anal Naga Chief Association, Kana Area Kuki Chief Association, Nishaband Chakpikarong, Bazar Board Chakpikarong, KSO- KNA area and Anal Lenruwal Tangpi Student Organisation (ALT) .

Moreover, as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Chassad Battalion under aegis of HQ 10 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR(S) also conducted lectures on "Drug Trafficking and Legal and Health Implications of Drugs" today, said a release issued by IGAR(S) .

The battalion reached out to the villagers of Kultuk, Molvailup, Aishi, Lakhan and Phaimol of Kamjong district to spread awareness on ill effects of drugs.

Similarly, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR (East) organised a drug awareness rally at Tamenglong town.

The rally was flagged off by Commandant of 44 AR from iconic Gaurav Sthal at battalion headquarters, said a statement of PIB Defence Wing.

CRPF
On the occasion of "International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking", 69 Battalion CRPF, Mantripukhri under the aegis of IGP, CRPF, M&N Sector, organised a mass rally to spread awareness on drug abuse.

The rally conducted under the supervision of Bajrang Lal, Commandant-69 Bn CRPF, was participated by officers & jawans of 69 Bn and local youths, said a release issued by 69 Bn CRPF.

The rally concluded with an oath taking ceremony wherein all the participants led by Bajrang Lal pledged to prevent drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyle.

Besides, "International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking" was also observed by Library & Information Centre Kakching; 165 INF Bn (TA) (H&H) Assam; Kshetrileikai Women Development Association and Covid Warriors Team, Thoubal Kshetrileikai; and Eramdam Ningol Yaiphakol (an IRCA for woman) .
