L Dikho lays foundation stone for water pipe connection

Senapati, November 23 2021: PHE Minister L Dikho laid the foundation stone for water pipe connection from Kazing Water source to Northern Maram Villages on November 21 .

The programme was organised by Northern Maram People's Organization (NMPO) and its water committee at Kavanam Village, said a release issued by NMPO.

Moderating the programme, Pungdi P Celestine stated that the initiative of L Dikho would limit the impact of water scarcity in the area and provide access to safe water.

In his speech, L Dikho lauded the NMPO and Water Committee for organising the event to help solve the water scarcity issue in the area.

"The Kazing stream water source, located in a vast forest range on Maram-Peren Road, 18 Km from NH-2 is an abode of flora and fauna that provides fresh air and fresh water not only to the area but to the region", he said.

While assuring the gathering that pipes would be connected as soon as possible, the Minister urged the people to extend their support and take up the programme as a community project.

He also mentioned that the water project of Maram Khullen which is situated on a hilltop is under process for implementation.

NMPO president, RK Kamba delivered the welcome address while Water Committee member, Bosco Kashung proposed the vote of thanks.

Invocation prayer was pronounced by Rev Ch Tuiba, Pastor, Kavanam Village.

The event was attended by former Deputy Speaker, K Raina; NPF working president, T Robert; Senapati District Olympic Association president, Kovio; former ADC members LR John, Thomas Luba & A Rang; village headman and chairman of Northern Maram villages; Northern Youths and Students president, Karaiba Francis and Northern Women president among others.

It may be mentioned that even with the presence of perennial sources of water in the area, Northern Maram villages have been facing water scarcity in most of the season, especially during winter due to the lack of proper line connection.
